Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers to partnering, scope, methods and expertise.

Partners can engage us via direct procurement, grants, sub-contracts or framework agreements. Email a brief concept or TOR to info@northconsultea.com. We'll reply with an initial scoping note and proposed team, timeline and budget.

We work across infrastructure (transport, energy), urban upgrading, social protection, humanitarian & development programs, and peace & security. Services include ESIA, RAP, social safeguards, stakeholder engagement, MEL, baseline & endline surveys, impact assessments and capacity-building.

We use mixed-methods: household surveys, KIIs, FGDs, focus workshops, participatory tools, remote sensing where relevant, and digital data collection (ODK, Kobo). For evaluations we follow utilization-focused approaches and international standards (IFIs).

Yes — we design instruments (ESIA, RAP, SEP, GBV/SEA mitigation) aligned to national legislation and IFI standards (World Bank, AfDB, etc.), and provide hands-on compliance support during implementation.

We use inclusive stakeholder mapping, gender analyses, participatory FGDs, and targeted outreach to vulnerable groups. We embed GBV/SEA prevention measures in safeguards and ensure grievance redress mechanisms are accessible.

Primary coverage is Kenya and the Horn of Africa (including IGAD countries). We also undertake cross-border and regional studies and coordinate multi-country teams when required.

We assemble multidisciplinary teams (senior leads + national experts + local enumerators). Quality is assured through peer reviews, field supervision, standardized tools, and the Directors’ technical oversight.

Yes — we have experience with World Bank, UN, bilateral and NGO procurement & reporting requirements and tailor our deliverables and financial reporting to donors’ templates.

Typical deliverables: inception report, methodological annex, data collection tools, raw datasets, interim updates, full technical reports, executive summaries, policy briefs and dissemination/validation workshops.

We integrate GBV/SEA risk assessments, referral pathways, SEA prevention clauses, confidential reporting channels and labor management plans. We also deliver training for contractors and project implementation units on these requirements.

Pricing depends on scope, team composition and field coverage. We provide a clear fee schedule alongside a task-based timeline in our proposals and can work on fixed-price, time-and-materials or milestone-based contracts.

Timelines vary: a standard ESIA/RAP for a linear infrastructure project typically takes 3–6 months (scoping to disclosure) depending on corridor length and complexity; utilization-focused evaluations often range 6–12 weeks for a mid-size program. We provide a detailed timeline in the inception phase.
